Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Hill Country Community Ministries, and Tim Liu’s longtime service is a wonderful reflection of that spirit. Since 2015, Tim has been a steady, dependable presence at our food pantry. Whether he’s restocking shelves, organizing inventory, or keeping our dock area running smoothly, Tim brings a calm, can-do attitude to everything he does. His commitment over the years is nothing short of inspiring: as of now, Tim has dedicated more than 1,110 volunteer hours over the past 10 years. That’s a full decade of service, and every minute has made a difference for the families and individuals we serve. Tim doesn’t just show up—he shows up with heart, humility, and a quiet strength that speaks volumes. Tim was kind enough to share what brought him to HCCM, and why he continues to give so generously of his time.
I moved to Texas from Salt Lake City back in 1989. Honestly, I never thought I’d stay—but the breakfast tacos were just too good to leave behind!
My wife, Hope, actually started volunteering at Hill Country Community Ministries before I did. She’s the one who encouraged me to give it a try, and I’m so glad she did. Since then, my life has been filled with more beautiful people than I could have imagined.
Meeting new people at HCCM and seeing the way everyone helps each other—it really fills my happy tank. I’ve volunteered in other places before, but HCCM has truly been the diamond in the rough. You won’t find a better group of giving, compassionate people than the volunteers and team here. They love others—no matter what.
Let’s just say this crew deserves 20 stars and four thumbs up.
If you have time or treasure to give, I promise you won’t be disappointed by supporting HCCM.org. It’s more than just volunteering—it’s about saving each other.
A few fun facts about me:
- My comfort food is poke.
- If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to make everyone love each other.
- Fun fact: I’ve shaken LeAnn Rimes’ hand!
- My first job was as a paperboy.
- And I’ll leave you with this thought: Teamwork makes the dream work!
Tim is a true blessing to HCCM. His cheerful presence and helpful attitude are an encouragement and joy to all the staff, volunteers, and clients. Thank you Tim!!
