If you want to be in the know about what’s going on at our organization, you’ve come to the right place.

Happy New Year….. And welcome to 2024!!!!

Tiesa Hollaway, HCCM

Never in a million years did I think we would see the numbers we did last year. Boy, I was wrong!!! I may have shared how shocked I was in 2022, providing food to 30,255 families (91,037 individuals). YET, in 2023, HCCM provided food to 46,685 families. That is 136,243 individuals. We provided food to OVER 100,000 people. 1.3 MILLION pounds of food was distributed. Nearly 960 families received thrift store vouchers. HCCM gave away FREE clothing, coats, shoes, blankets, housewares, linens, and so much more to our families in need or who have faced a crisis. This was to the tune of over $33,000 thrift store pricing… all for FREE.

HCCM recently created a NEW mission and vision statement. ALL things that we do will always go back to the Mission and Vision of HCCM. Driving by grace through FAITH. With COMPASSION and care. We affirm DIGNITY. ADVOCACY for our community. GOOD STEWARDS of the resources enTRUSTed to us. And our GOAL is to break the grip of hardship, hunger and hopelessness. These are powerful words and there comes a huge sense of responsibility when you SERVE.

As we move into 2024, I will be looking at the why’s, what’s, how’s and who’s? Why do you serve? Why do you do what you do? Why do you want be here? What? What does our community need as we plan for the future community resource center? What are we missing? What IS missing?

How? How are WE (our doers, donors and door openers) going to serve those in need? How are we going to provide those serves needed?

Who? Who is going to do the work? Who do we want to partner with? Who wants to be involved?

I am EXCITED for 2024. There will continue to be challenges. There will continue to be CHANGE. I am ever so grateful when I get to have conversations with those who have been here before me. Speaking with a 20+ year volunteer the other day and she said to me, “I always hated it when you wanted to make a change. We have been doing this this way for so long, why do you want to change it? And I always dreaded it. Yet, I have been here long enough to know that when change happens, it has ALWAYS worked out for the best, for the best of the organization as a whole.”

So…. Hold on HCCM Peeps!!! Change is coming…. Let’s be real, CHANGE has already been happening. I am ever so GRATEFUL you all have been on this BEAUTIFUL ride with me…. Can’t wait to see where it stops.

May 2024 be better than ever for you and yours!!!!
