HCCM for the Holidays!!

Holidays at HCCM

We love the holidays here at HCCM! It’s a joyous time of year as we celebrate the birth of Jesus!

There is a lot of activity here this month. We are currently distributing our holiday meals to our clients. This includes a turkey, stuffing, instant potatoes, gravy, Jello, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, cream soup, peaches, pie filling, and pie crust. Several churches and organizations have been instrumental in collecting the food for this project, including Peace Lutheran, Victory Baptist, and the Leander Area Republican Women, among others.

With donations from some volunteers and other sources, we are also able to provide stuffed Christmas stockings for the children of our clients. This can include toys, candy, and socks, for example. This brings a lot of joy to those little faces!

Our thrift store recently wrapped up our coat and blanket distribution, which occurs annually right before Thanksgiving. We were able to provide 216 coats and 63 blankets to our clients. This event was a great success and ran very smoothly thanks to our awesome staff and volunteers, who prepared and organized coats, and helped our families choose their items.

We are blessed to receive many donations this time of year. This will help to build up our storage and continue to provide food through the next few months. One of our biggest food drives takes place at the annual Follow the Star event held by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. This year the event is Thursday, 12/7 – Saturday, 12/9. This is an outdoor production depicting the birth and life of Jesus. Admission is free and the event is open from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm each evening. There is also a drive-through option. Food collection is held, which benefits HCCM. This is a great production, and we encourage you to go and see it!

HCCM relies on its vast array of volunteers to make all these wonderful things happen this season, and we appreciate the service, time, and support given by them and our incredible community. God bless you during this happy season!!
