There is something special about watching a child pick out a brand-new pair of shoes. The excitement, the smiles, and that little extra confidence in their step made HCCM’s LACES event this August one to remember!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, local businesses, schools, donors, and volunteers, HCCM provided more than 1,000 pairs of shoes to children as they prepared to head back to school.
Throughout the event, we saw so many happy faces as kids searched for just the right pair. For some, it was about finding their favorite color or style. For others, it was simply the excitement of knowing they had something brand new to wear on the first day of school.
But LACES is about so much more than shoes.
A new pair of shoes can help a child walk into school feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to be part of the day. It can ease the worry of wearing shoes that are worn out, too small, or different from what their classmates are wearing. Something as simple as a new pair of shoes can give a child a boost in self-esteem and help them begin the school year feeling proud of themselves.
For parents and caregivers, it can also mean one less back-to-school expense to worry about. When families are already balancing the cost of school supplies, clothing, groceries, housing, and other necessities, the support of our community can make a meaningful difference.
A Community That Stepped Up
The success of LACES would not have been possible without the people and organizations who stepped up for our kids. Every pair donated represented someone in our community saying, “We care about you, and we want you to start the school year strong.”
HCCM would like to give a very special shoutout and heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing community donors, SCHEELS, Toyota of Cedar Park, and Leander ISD high schools for generously donating shoes and helping make our LACES event such an incredible success. Your generosity helped ensure that more than 1,000 pairs of shoes made their way onto the feet of local children as they headed back to school. We truly could not have done it without you!
And, of course, a huge thank you goes to our volunteers and everyone who helped organize, prepare, and make the event special for our families. Seeing more than 1,000 pairs of shoes leaving HCCM on the feet of smiling children was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together.
