You Are Not Alone, September Is Suicide Prevention Month

September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, encourage conversations, and remind people that help is available. Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, especially when several challenges come at once. Reaching out, whether for yourself, a friend, or a family member, can be an important first step toward finding support and hope.

At Hill Country Community Ministries, we know that people sometimes come to us during difficult seasons of life. Food insecurity, financial stress, housing concerns, family challenges, and other circumstances can leave people feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to turn. While we are not a mental health provider, our Welcome Center can help connect individuals and families with local organizations and community resources. You do not have to know exactly what kind of help you need before you come to us. We can help you find a place to start.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. For information and support related to mental health, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI, offers a HelpLine at 1 800 950 6264, or you can text NAMI to 62640. The 988 Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You are not alone, and asking for help is a sign of strength. Whether you need someone to talk to or simply do not know where to begin, support is available. Stop by the HCCM Welcome Center and let us help you take the next step.
