If you want to be in the know about what’s going on at our organization, you’ve come to the right place.

Kandy Chimento

Kandy Chimento was born and raised in Ohio on a dairy farm and spent part of her teenage years in Wisconsin. Growing up, she learned the value of hard work, growing her own food, and caring for livestock. She later graduated from Asbury University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and earned a master’s degree in counseling from Master's Theological University.

In 1987, Kandy met the love of her life, Tony. Next year, they will celebrate 40 years of marriage together. They have two children, Christa and Tyler. Kandy and Tony spent many years serving together in youth ministry at several churches, building a life centered around faith and service.

In 2010, Kandy joined HCCM as the Food Pantry Supervisor. Over the years, her knowledge, leadership, and responsibilities continued to grow. Today, she oversees client programs, food services, and HCCM’s incredible volunteers.

Throughout her time at HCCM, Kandy has played an important role in the organization’s growth and success. From expanding programs and increasing outreach efforts to responding during natural disasters, she has always stepped in wherever help was needed. Whether helping grow the Fresh Food for All program or supporting families during difficult times, Kandy has remained dedicated to serving the community.

During her years at HCCM, Kandy gained a deeper understanding of social services and food insecurity. Still, she says her favorite part of the job has been the relationships she built along the way, especially with volunteers.

“Working alongside such dedicated individuals has been a constant source of inspiration. It has been an honor to contribute to the mission of HCCM and to be part of a community committed to serving others.”

One of Kandy’s favorite memories was serving the community during the COVID pandemic.

“God has protected our facility through so many challenges, including ice storms, gas leaks, floods, and COVID. Even though the pandemic was a very uncertain and sometimes scary time, the staff and volunteers stepped up and adjusted so we could continue to feed people.”

Moments like these remind us what faith, compassion, and perseverance can accomplish. When challenges arise, people like Kandy help others keep moving forward with hope and purpose.

When I think of Kandy Chimento, I think of someone who always supported those around her. She was a coworker who listened, encouraged others, and shared a passion for excellence. She consistently reminded us to stay focused on the true mission and not become distracted by things outside our control.

People like Kandy cannot truly be replaced, but her spirit of kindness, dedication, and service will continue to inspire everyone around her. Retirement may close one chapter, but there is no doubt she will continue making a positive impact wherever life takes her next.

Thank you, Kandy, for your years of faithful service to the community. Your impact will be felt for many years to come.

“Enjoy the time and stage you are in. It will change eventually.”
