Texas currently has one of the highest rates of food insecurity in the country—ranking second nationwide. Hunger doesn’t discriminate. It affects families, children, seniors, students, and working adults alike.
While hunger is often associated with urban areas, the challenges in rural communities can be even more severe—exacerbated by long travel distances, limited grocery options, and fewer food assistance resources.
Behind every missed meal lies a deeper struggle: poverty, inflation, rising housing costs, and limited access to nutritious food. Without consistent access to food, it becomes harder to stay healthy, succeed in school, maintain employment, or plan for the future.
