If you haven’t heard, we’re in the food and people business. That means we work closely with individuals and families in need—and we distribute thousands of pounds of food each month to help meet that need. While the people part is easy (we are never in short supply of clients seeking help), the food part takes ongoing effort. In fact, we can never have too much food. That’s why one of our key responsibilities is continuously seeking new sources of donations.
Thanks to the work of Zakiyah, our Community Engagement Specialist, our food donation partnerships have continued to grow—and today, we’re excited to welcome a brand-new partner: Paris Baguette!
Paris Baguette is a freshly opened bakery located just off Highway 183 near the H-E-B Plus. They offer an incredible selection of pastries, sandwiches, coffees, lemonades, and more. I recently visited and was impressed by the quality of the food and the friendly, welcoming staff. If you’re looking to try something new or want to support a business that gives back, we highly encourage you to stop by and check them out.
You might be wondering, “How exactly are they helping us?” Great question.
Every day, our dedicated volunteer drivers visit stores like H-E-B, Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Natural Grocers, and others to pick up surplus items such as bread, produce, meat, and hygiene products. These generous donations help us stock our pantry shelves and provide for our neighbors in need.
Now, Paris Baguette has joined that important network. Each morning, they allow us to collect their leftover bread and pastries from the previous day—treats that add something special to our food distributions. While it may seem like a small gesture, to our clients, it's a rare delight.
