5 Easy Steps to Organize a Food Drive
How to Organize a Food Drive with HCCM
Step 1: Schedule the food drive and delivery date
Choose a time frame that works for your organization. Usually, the most effective amount of time is 2-4 weeks. It’s important to schedule your food drive on our calendar so we can ensure a steady supply of food for the Food Pantry.
The delivery date is important, too. Depending on the amount of food collected, we may need to schedule extra volunteers to help unload and process the food. Donation barrels or boxes are available for your use, if desired - just ask!
Step 2: Publicize the food drive with flyers and social media, and be sure to check out our list of most-needed items. Here's a flyer you can use too!
Let us know if there is a special event attached to your food drive. We may be able to publicize the event as well.
Step 3: Collect non-perishable food and personal care items
You may choose to focus on food or personal care items or simply choose 1-2 items on which to focus. Monetary donations are important, too. If your group would like to collect food and funds, that will increase our ability to assist families in need.
Step 4: Pack up donations for delivery
Tip: If available, copy paper boxes are the ideal size to hold and transport food.
Step 5: Deliver Food to HCCM Food Pantry
